Ifa Worshippers Offer To Fight Boko Haram

Ifa religious worshippers under the aegis of Ancient Religion Societies of African Descendants International Council have said they are ready to assist Nigeria to combat the Boko Haram insurgents ravaging some states in the North-East.

The Chairman, Executive Working Committee of ARSADIC, Dr. Olalekan Ifagbenuola, said this on Friday at a press conference held at Ile Oduduwa, Ile Ife, to seek government recognition for the group.

Ifagbenuola stated that corruption among public office holders was the reason for the increasing rate of crimes in the country, saying this would stop if public office holders were made to take the oath of office in traditional religious ways.

He said, “If proper oath of allegiance is taken genuinely, our leaders would not misbehave when they get to power. If the oath is taken in a traditional religious way, they will not misbehave. There must be fear of God in anything we do.

“Corrupt leaders in offices promote crimes and if our leaders are honest, the level of crime in the country will greatly reduce. We are ready to assist to tackle insurgency, if we are invited by the government.”

He said that the problems confronting the nation should be tackle with seriousness because there could be no meaningful development in an atmosphere devoid of peace.

According to him, the umbrella body of the traditional religion worshippers was formerly known as Ancient Religion Societies of African Descendants Association and was registered under companies ordinance in 1957.

He, however, stated that there had been a proliferation of traditional religion associations in Nigeria and all over the world but said the traditional worshippers had resolved to one formidable association.

Ifagbenuola described religion as an important instrument for development in any nation, saying successful nations, including China and South Africa, had given recognition to all notable religions.

“We call on the Federal Government of Nigeria in this era of change to follow suit and give due recognition to the ancient religions. We must quickly state that Nigeria is a complex nation of diverse group of people and culture; therefore, there would be more
than one ancient religion in existence,” he added.

Arrest Order: Saraki Relocates from Residence

There was anxiety yesterday following the relocation of the President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki, from his personal residence in Maitama District in Abuja to the official Guest House of the Office of the President of the Senate.

Findings by theNation revealed that Saraki has moved out of his personal residence to an official apartment for “strategic reasons and safety.” A source told the online news agency:

“The President of the Senate has relocated from his personal house in Abuja. Saraki is now staying in the official Guest House of the President of the Senate which is like a sacred place like the hallowed chamber of the Senate.

“If the police and security agencies invade or storm the place, it will amount to a slap onthe upper chamber. This can make the Senate to join issues with the Executive despite the fact that there is no immunity for any National Assembly leaders.

“He has also been consulting with his strategists on how to vacate the Bench warrant against him by the Code of Conduct Tribunal.”
When contacted, an aide to the Senate President, however, said:

“He actually moved to the Guest House since Monday because of the ongoing renovation in his personal residence due to a recent fire incident.”
As at press time, however, the police could not effect the arrest of Saraki because it was still awaiting a copy of the Bench warrant from the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT). There were indications that the warrant might be sent to the police on Monday.
To stave off pressure, the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Justice Danladi Umar, has allegedly switched off all his mobile lines.

No arrest warrant for Saraki- Police

In regards to the controversy generated by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) order for the arrest of Senate President Bukola Saraki, the police yesterday said they haven't received any order to that effect.
“I am yet to see one”, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Solomon Arase, said.
The CCT, headed by Justice Danladi Umar, had, in a ruling on Friday, ordered the IGP and other security agencies to arrest Saraki and produce him before Monday to face a 13-count charge bordering on corruption and false declaration of assets.  The order and subsequent bench warrant followed Saraki’s failure to appear before the tribunal for arraignment.

“The police are yet to receive the Code of Conduct Tribunal bench warrant”, ordering the Senate President’s arrest, a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ACP Adebisi  Kolawole, also said, yesterday.

Scissors found in belly of Nigerian pilgrim in Saudi Arabia

An unidentified Nigerian Muslim man arriving in Saudi Arabia for the annual Haj (pilgrimage) next week got the shock of his life when he was told by immigration service that there was a big scissors inside his belly.

According to Saudi daily 'Al Wata'n, the scissors was discovered when the Nigerian pilgrim walked  through the metal detecting machine at the airport in the Western Red Sea port of Jeddah.

The metal inside him caused the metal detecting metal to bleep, causing the police officers to call him aside. After all metal objects on him such as wristwatch and belt were taken off him, the machine still bleeped when he passed through it.

"He was taken for a scan at the hospital and the big surprise was that it showed there is a big scissors inside his abdomen. When he was told about it, the pilgrim got a shock. He said that he underwent  a surgery nearly 15 years ago but never had any pain,” an airport staff said

Saudi Arabia To Give Victims Of Mecca Crane Crash $266,679 (N53m) Each

Barely four days after the tragic crane accident that occurred inside a mosque in the holy land of mecca during this recent hajj pilgrimage, Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud (pictured above visiting victims at the hospital), has made arrangements to compensate the families of those that died as well as those injured in the accident.
Six Nigerian pilgrims were reported to be among those that died in the crane crash.
Below is a breakdown of what each victim stands to receive:

According to Emirate 24/7 News,
Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has ordered to pay one million Saudi riyal (Dh979,445; US$266,679) compensation to the families of the pilgrims died in the crane fall accident at the Grand Mosque in Makkah.

According to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), one million riyals will also be given to each injured whose injury resulted in permanent disability. While half a million riyals will be given to each other injured pilgrim.
Nearly 107 people were killed and almost 400 were injured in the crane crash during a severe thunderstorm accompanied by violent winds. Among the dead were Saudis, Iranians, Nigerians, Malaysians, Indonesians, Indians and Pakistanis.

The King also issued directives that such payment would not deprive the families of the deceased as well as the injured from the right to claim for private right before the competent judicial authorities, SPA said.
The King also ordered to host two family members of the deceased as the King’s guests to perform Hajj in 1437H – next year.
The injured who cannot perform Hajj this year can perform Hajj next year as the King’s guests, the news agency said, adding that the families of the injured who stay in hospitals for treatment shall be granted visit visas to take care of the injured during the remaining period of Hajj and return back to their country.

The Accident Investigation Committee of Grand Mosque concluded that the main reason for the accident is the strong winds while the crane was in a wrong position, Emirates 24/7‎ reported.

Facebook Is Getting A ‘Dislike’ Button

Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg has made an interesting announcement.
He made the announcement yesterday in a question and answer session. According to him, the social media site will be getting a dislike button.
Hmm.
The 31-year-old stated “I think people have asked about the dislike button for many years. Today is a special day because today is the day I can say we’re working on it and shipping it”.
Looks like he changed his mind from last year when he said “Some people have asked for a dislike button because they want to say, ‘That thing isn’t good.’ And that’s not something that we think is good for the world. So we’re not going to build that.”
Do you think the dislike button is a good upgrade?

What Boko Haram members are demanding in exchange for Chibok girls - Buhari

According to President Buhari, Boko Haram leaders are asking for the freedom of one of its arrested leaders in exchange for the release of the over 200 kidnapped Chibok girls. Buhari said this while speaking to Nigerians living in Paris yesterday September 15th.

"They wanted us to release one of their leaders who is a strategic person in developing and making Improvised IEDs that is causing a lot of havoc in the country by blowing people in Churches, Mosque, market places, motor parks and other places. But it's very important that if we are going to talk to any body, we have to know how much he is worth. Let them bring all the girls and then, we will be prepared to negotiate, I will allow them to come back to Nigeria or to be absolved in the community.
We have to be very careful, the concern we have for the Chibok girls, one only imagine if they got a daughter there between 14 and 18 and for more than one and a half year, a lot of the parents who have died would rather see the graves of their daughters rather the condition they imagine they are in.
This has drawn a lot of sympathy though out the world, that is why this government is getting very hard in negotiating and getting the balance of those who are alive, ” he said

Although the aviation company reportedly existed since 2009, it had just unveiled a website to announce its swanky fleet and aviation services.

Meet This 64 years old virgin

Ngipheni from KwaMafunze in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa is a virgin at 64. She had to remain a virgin because that was the only way to participate in reed dance, a yearly dance/cultural activity for their king, Goodwill Zwelithini’s called umkhosi womhlanga. She has been part of the reed dance since she was a teenager.

"Before we go to the ceremony, our guardians test us to make sure that we are still virgins. This is because the ceremony is only for virgins," she said.
Although still a virgin, Ngipheni said she has longed for sex before. "The only way I could deal with the longing was by remembering my parents’ advice. Longing for sex is natural if you are a human being."

She said during her younger days, she used to have many boys proposing love to her. "I wanted to remain innocent so I turned them down." Ngipheni also revealed that she had a boyfriend once who later became her fiance.

"In our days our fiances never rushed us into having sex. They respected us. I separated with my fiance because he cheated"
Ngipheni added that she was happy that she’s safe from sexually transmitted diseases. She stresses that she is not saying young women should stay away from sex and marriage. "If you have sex do it responsibly. Do it after marriage. Once you are married, ask your partner to go for an HIV test before you engage in sex. This will reduce the number of people with HIV and teenage pregnancy."

Ngipheni’s guardian, Zithobile Mbhele, said she has been working with her for more than 30 years. "She is a good influence on young women in the area. We are proud of her. She has never missed umkhosi womhlanga"” said Zithobile.

How President Buhari Dumps $182M Halliburton Bribe Scandal - CNN iReport

As it is a fad that “when you fight corruption, surely corruption will fight back,” aptly captures the trending conspiracy of few Nigerian Army Generals (retired) and former Heads of State who allegedly prompted Buhari to ‘let-off’ his earlier, intentional investigation of $182million Halliburton bribe scandal, so he may continually ‘govern Nigeria in peace’.

CNN iReport gathered that few weeks before Buhari made his maiden visit to United States, words reached him that few retired Army Generals who were erstwhile Heads of State were allegedly not happy with the planned moves by the no-nonsense disciplinarian to re-open the Halliburton scandal, with the sole intention to expose, disgrace and prosecute some of culpable generals and other highly-placed Nigerians whose hands may have been ‘soiled’ by the cookie-jar of corruption in Bonny Island Liquefied Natural Gas Project.

As such, after General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), a former Nigeria’s Head of State received a phone call from from General Olusegun Obasanjo, also a former Nigeria’s president where he brought the attention of IBB to the fact that they way Buhari was going about corruption-fight, he would eventually probe the majority of past administration, including IBB era.

This position was echoed by another Nigerian Head of State, General Abdusalami Abubakar; which prompted a conspiracy theory to ‘place Buhari in order’.

Abdusalami had visited IBB in his Minna Castle in Niger State, there it was concluded that IBB should stylishly pass on their position to Buhari to halt his earlier intended probe of his predecessors. In a press statement issued by IBB through his media adviser, Prince Kassim Afegbua, it reportedly reads: “On General Buhari, it is not in IBB’s tradition to take up issues with his colleague former president. But, for the purpose of the record, we are conversant with General Buhari’s so-called holier-than-thou-attitude. He is a one-time minister of petroleum and we have good records of his tenure. Secondly, he also presided over Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) which records we also have.

We challenge him to come out in clean hands in those two portfolios he headed. Or, we will help him to expose his records of performance during those periods. Those who live in glass houses do not throw stones. General Buhari should be properly guided.”

CNN iReport gathered when intelligence report reached Buhari on the position of these retired Army Generals and former Heads of State, and bearing in mind how mean they can fully engage him in ‘dirty-fight’ which may ridicule him in the eyes of Nigerians and expose his stewardship then as Minister of Petroleum in 1976 that led to the mysterious disappearance of a whooping US $2.8 Billion from Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC account in Midlands Bank, United Kingdom allegedly under his watchful eyes, Buhari quickly made a detour and issued a press statement through Femi Adesina, his Special Adviser, Media & Publicity claiming the investigation of Buhari administration would only be limited to his predecessor, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GEJ, the man who honorably handed peacefully to Buhari on May 28, 2015 at Eagle Square so Nigeria may remain united as an indivisible nation. For the records, Buhari was appointed Minister of Petroleum in 1976 under the Murtala/Obasanjo administration.

Not much is known about any scandals that occured during his tenure as Minister, but there are rumors of the mysterious disappearance of US$2.8 Billion from the NNPC account in Midlands Bank in the United Kingdom, during Buhari’s stewardship.

Now that IBB has threatened to expose him, it lends a certain credibility to the rumors indicting Buhari of grand graft.   'Probe of my administration is a witch-hunt' - GEJ As if Jonathan knew that this would happen. In the last days of his administration as president in Aso Rock villa on May 27, 2015 during Federal Executive Council valedictory session witnessed by big-wigs of Peoples Democratic Party, he said “Some people are even calling for the probe of the government, but I think in Nigeria, there are a lot of many things that will be probed, very many things, even debts owed by states and debts owed by this country from 1960 up to this time. They say it is Jonathan’s administration that accrued these debts,” Jonathan said. “I believe that anybody that is coming for probe must also ensure that this probe is extended beyond the Jonathan administration. Otherwise, to me, it will be a witch-hunt. If we are very sincere, it is not only the Jonathan administration that should be probed.” CNN iReport investigation showed that Jonathan administration may have been singled-out as ‘corrupt government’ due to the fact that he was a minority-leader from Niger-Delta and obviously not a military, but a civilian leader.

There are feelers from some Nigerians that this probe may not have happened if Jonathan had been a retired Army General. For Folu Adewope, an undergraduate of University of Texas Arlington, UTA, her words: “This is obviously a witch-hunt, charade and selective humiliation with ethnic coloration under corruption-guise. I strongly believe this investigation would not have happened if Jonathan had hailed from the North and had been a retired Army General.

Why can’t Buhari open the Halliburton scandal, and openly prosecute Obasanjo, Abdusalami, Atiku Abubakar, a former Nigeria’s Vice president and every other corrupt Nigerians named in the scandal. As Nigerians, we are interested in this case.” Recently on his Facebook wall-page, Femi Adeshina, special aide to the president on media and publicity, said: “It would be a distraction for the President to begin digging into all former administrations, but for a proper take off of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s government, there is need to look into the immediate past government (Jonathan’s).

We are interested in investigating Jonathan’s government to recover stolen funds”. International Community watch in Disbelief As at the time of going to the press, members of International Community, particularly the United States government is shocked that Buhari ought not to leave any stone unturned in fighting corruption no matter whose ox is gored. The Halliburton bribery scandal is seen by members of international community as a litmus test for Buhari to prove his desire effectively to combat corruption
among the elites in Nigeria.
