Bastian Schweinsteiger 'agrees three-year deal' with Manchester United

Manchester United have agreed a stunning deal to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger, according to reports emerging in Germany.

The Red Devils’ well-documented summer search for a high profile central midfielder has led to links with Southampton enforcer Morgan Schneiderlin, but it appears a move for the German has now been prioritised.

German daily BILD has revealed that Schweinsteiger informed the Bavarians of his desire for a new challenge, citing United manager and former Bayern boss Louis van Gaal as a key factor in attracting him to England.

The 30-year-old has allegedly committed to a three-year deal worth around £7.5m and is on standby to fly to Manchester to complete his medical and other formalities.

BILD suggest that only a fee still needs to be agreed, with Bayern reportedly holding out for £15m for the World Cup winner.
